All Wrapped Up

Day 1: Embracing the True Meaning of Christmas

Devotional: As we approach Christmas, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season. From buying gifts to attending numerous parties, our lives can become so full that we forget the true reason for our celebration. Reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and what it truly means for us. Luke 2 tells the timeless story of Jesus' birth, reminding us of His humble beginnings and the shepherds who first received the good news. Amidst the busyness, it's crucial to remember to honor Jesus and allow Him into the messy areas of our lives. Just as Jesus was born in a stable, He is comfortable entering our chaos and bringing hope, joy, and peace. Trust God's timing and process, even when it seems slow, and embrace the true meaning of Christmas for the peace and joy that only He can bring.

Verse: And she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. - Luke 2:7

Question: How can you make space in your busy life to truly honor and celebrate Jesus this Christmas season?

Quote: The story is not different, but I am. I'm in a different spot in my life.

Prayer: Lord, help me to slow down and remember the true reason for this season. Let me honor You in all that I do and make room for You in my life. Amen.

Day 2: Jesus in Our Mess

Devotional: Jesus is comfortable coming into your mess. He is comfortable coming into your chaos. Just as He was born in a stable, He is willing to enter the messy and unplanned places in our lives. We often feel that we need to have everything in order before we can invite Jesus in, but He meets us right where we are. He brings hope, joy, and peace into our chaos. Trust that God can find you wherever you are and that He has a plan and a purpose for your life.

Verse: And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.' - Luke 2:8-10

Question: What areas of your life feel messy or chaotic, and how can you invite Jesus into those spaces?

Quote: Jesus is comfortable coming into your mess. He is comfortable coming into your chaos.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being willing to enter my mess. Help me to trust You with the chaotic areas of my life and to find peace in Your presence. Amen.

Day 3: Trusting God's Timing

Devotional: Many times when God wants to do something big, He starts with something small. Jesus' birth in a humble stable is a perfect example of this. God's not looking for the thing that takes the least amount of time or is most efficient. He is looking for the way that brings Him the most glory. Trust God's timing and process, even when it seems slow. Remember that He has a plan and a purpose for your life, and He is working all things for your good and His glory.

Verse: Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel? - Zechariah 4:10

Question: In what areas of your life do you need to trust God's timing and process?

Quote: Many times when God wants to do something big, he starts with something small.

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust Your timing and process. Remind me that You are working all things for my good and Your glory. Amen.

Day 4: The Power of Small Beginnings

Devotional: Despise not the days of small beginnings. Jesus' birth in a stable was a small beginning that led to the greatest story ever told. God often starts with small things to accomplish His big plans. Don't be discouraged by small beginnings or slow progress. Trust that God is at work in your life, even in the small and seemingly insignificant moments. He is using them to shape you and prepare you for His greater purposes.

Verse: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6

Question: How can you embrace and find joy in the small beginnings in your life?

Quote: Despise not the days of small beginnings.

Prayer: God, help me to embrace the small beginnings and trust that You are at work in my life. Give me patience and faith to see Your greater purposes. Amen.

Day 5: Wrapped in His Love

Devotional: Allow Jesus to wrap you up in His love, in His mercy, in the swaddling clothes of His grace, to keep you warm and to help you make it through so that you feel loved and you feel safe. The rejection that used to hold on to you cannot hold you anymore. The mess that you were in in your life does not define you anymore. Allow Jesus this morning to set you free, to loose you from those things that have held you back and held you down. Allow Him to wrap you in His love, in His mercy, in His grace, in His forgiveness, and in His care.

Verse: Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there. - John 20:6

Question: What areas of your life do you need to allow Jesus to wrap you in His love and set you free?

Quote: Allow Jesus to wrap you up in his love, in his mercy, in the swaddling clothes of his grace, to keep you warm and to help you make it through so that you feel loved and you feel safe.

Prayer: Jesus, wrap me in Your love, mercy, and grace. Set me free from the things that have held me back and held me down. Help me to feel loved and safe in Your care. Amen.
